Three phone screens from the Faith app: a listing in Gulberg, verified search results in Lahore, and the active panic screen.

Problem

Short-stay renting in Pakistan runs on trust that is not there: guests do not know who the host is, hosts do not know who is coming, and money changes hands before anyone is sure.

Constraints

  • A mobile-first market, so the app matters more than the website.
  • Identity has to be verified before a booking, not after a problem.
  • Guest safety during the stay needs a human response within minutes.

Decisions

  • One Node.js (Fastify) API behind a React Native (Expo) app and a Next.js web client.
  • Bookings held in escrow until check-in, with identity verification and trust scores on both sides.
  • An in-stay panic flow over WebSockets that opens a live case in an ops console and escalates in stages: ops desk, guard, emergency contact, police.

Result

Mobile app, web client, API and ops console built from scratch, including listing checks that flag photos reused from other sites.
